2008 GRANT APPLICATION

NEAHTA is awarding two $250.00 grants for implementation of innovative Horticultural Therapy programs or expansion of services to existing programs. The award will be made to deserving horticultural therapy programs in established agencies, schools, hospitals or other institutions. The purpose of this program is to encourage the expansion of horticultural therapy programming and services to greater numbers of participants.

Eligibility Requirements
In order to qualify as a grant recipient, applicant must:

  • Be a member of NEAHTA in good standing
  • Document current or proposed programming in horticultural therapy with special populations
  • Demonstrate a financial programmatic need
Award Criteria
Awards will be based on:
  • Merit of the applicant's existing and/or proposed HT program
  • Justification of financial need
  • Qualifications of program supervisor (Applicant with AHTA registration will receive preference)
Support Materials:
  • Details as applicable regarding type of project, location, time required in preparation, client or audience served, timetable for implementation, benefits or goals, expenses involved, and how this grant money will be utilized.
  • Applicants are encouraged to submit the following additional materials in support of their applications (support materials not to exceed 10 pages in length).
    • Photographs, lesson plans and press clippings that provide additional background information on the host facility and the existing HT program.

All projects must be non-profit and conceived or implemented by you or your employer. Projects must involve plant related activities which improve the quality of life for persons with special needs. Funds are not transferable to other projects. Recipients will be required to submit a written report to the NEAHTA newsletter editor at the completion of the project. Repayment of funds is required if recipient fails to complete the project for the funds awarded or fails to make a report of how the funds were put to use, in which case we would expect a return of the entire grant. Recipient also agrees to allow NEAHTA to submit press releases announcing the grant award to appropriate newspapers.

Applications must be postmarked no later than July 1, 2007 and include SEVEN copies.Award announcement will be made at the NEAHTA summer workshop on July 26. Written notification will be made after the workshop. Mail to: NEAHTA, PO Box 98, Williamsburg, MA 01096
